Flint Digital earns money from one paid link. This page explains who pays, what it costs you, and what the payment does and does not influence.

The arrangement, stated plainly

Flint Digital is published by InUmbra s.r.o. and participates in an affiliate programme relating to Norton AntiVirus Plus. When a reader follows the link on this site to the vendor’s website and goes on to purchase a subscription, the vendor pays InUmbra s.r.o. a commission out of its own revenue.

That is the site’s only source of income. There is no advertising on this site, no sponsored placement, no paid review, no display network and no other affiliate relationship. There is one linked product, and it is named on the products covered page and on the homepage.

What it costs you: nothing extra

The commission is paid by the vendor, not by you. You pay the vendor’s own price, on the vendor’s own website, under the vendor’s own terms. Arriving through this site does not increase that price, and this site holds no discount, coupon or special arrangement that would reduce it either. Whatever the vendor charges at the moment you buy is what you pay.

What the commission does not buy

• It does not buy a recommendation. This site does not rank, rate or score products, and does not tell you to buy anything. It has run no tests and publishes no results.
• It does not shape the troubleshooting pages. Those pages are written to solve a problem with whatever software is already installed, and most of them do not name any product.
• It does not decide the order of anything. Sections are ordered by what a reader needs first: the most likely cause, the most consequential step.
• It does not buy claims. Where this site cannot stand behind a product detail — prices, features, platforms, subscription terms — it publishes none and sends you to the vendor.
• It does not involve the vendor in editing. No vendor sees these pages before publication or has any right of review over them.

What does decide what appears here

Two separate things, and it is worth being precise about which is which.

Which problems get a page is decided by how often the problem occurs and how badly it is answered elsewhere. Nothing commercial affects that choice. A page about failed updates exists because failed updates are common and the existing material is mostly product-specific.

Which product is linked is decided by the commercial relationship, and by nothing else. This site does not claim to have surveyed a market and selected a winner. It has one affiliate relationship, it links to that product, and it says so on the homepage, on the products page, next to the link itself, and here. An honest narrow scope is more useful to you than a claimed independence that is not real.

How paid links are marked

Every affiliate link on this site is accompanied by a plain statement, in ordinary body text next to the link, that it is a paid link and that the publisher is paid a commission if you buy. In the page source, each one carries the attributes rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" so that search engines and other automated readers can identify it as paid.

The links go directly to the vendor’s destination address. This site operates no redirect of its own, does not rewrite link destinations with JavaScript, and does not hide where a link goes — hover over one and your browser will show you the destination before you click it.

What the vendor learns about you

Nothing is sent to the vendor by this site. If you choose to follow the link, your browser makes an ordinary request to the vendor’s address, and the vendor’s own privacy policy governs what happens from that point. This site sets no cookies, loads no tracking and holds no record of who followed a link; the publisher sees only whatever aggregate figures the affiliate programme reports, which do not identify individual readers. Why this page exists

Disclosing a commercial relationship of this kind is a basic requirement of honest dealing, and under the Australian Consumer Law, conduct that is misleading or deceptive in trade is prohibited and is enforced against the publisher as much as the advertiser. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is the regulator responsible. Rather than treat disclosure as a line of small print, this site states the arrangement in four places and in plain terms.
